Shame on you, Michigan!

"No organic allowed" for disadvantaged babies and their mothers, according to the WIC program in Michigan. Where to start with how stupid this is .... this site (Grist) does a great job of 'splaining how screwed up this is. I especially find the rule that "eggs have to be WHITE" particularly offensive. It's not just morally offensive - that infants, toddlers and pregnant women, who need the BEST food - are treated so poorly - it doesn't even add up:

Allowed: Frosted Mini-Wheats (first three ingredients: whole grain wheat, sugar, high fructose corn syrup) Price: $3.63/18 oz.
Not Allowed: Meijer Organic Raisin Brain (all organic, no corn syrup) Price: 17 oz. $2.99

Allowed: Fresh conventional carrots, 1 lb. $1.30
Not Allowed: Fresh organic carrots, 1 lb. $0.99
